Part One- September 15th, 2005
It all started in spring of 2005 with loss of strength in left hand, muscle twitching, sore neck and slurred speech. Sergio has always been a strong, healthy and athletic person all his life. What could possibly be happening to him?
Dealing with a steady digression over the next few months, Sergio went to a number of doctors to check out what could be happening to his body. In September of 2005, the diagnosis from Kaiser Hospital was ALS (aka) LOU GEHRIG DISEASE - no cure-3 to 5 years to live! Obviously, the next few months were living hell!!!
Major changes in the family’s lives began immediately. First, was that Sergio retired from his job in construction after 21 years. And that was just the beginning….
